Eastern Health is working on an update on services and capabilities as they continue trying to rebuild the information systems.
Premier Andrew Furey has weighed in on the sabotaging of our health care system. In Glasgow, Scotland for the COP-26 climate conference, Furey came under fire in the House of Assembly for not making his way back home to help deal with what many consider to be a crisis.
The health authorities have been impacted to varying degrees but Eastern Health, the largest of the four, has cancelled thousands of appointments and offering limited services.
The Premier assures that they have world-class technology professionals working on the issue.
This is certainly a challenging time for residents who are concerned about accessing care, and for our health care professionals. Please know our world class teams are dedicated to getting things up and running as soon as possible, and I remain focused on this issue.

Neither government nor Eastern Health will shed much light on the cyber attack out of concern that they could be feeding those who hacked the system. Technology teacher and blogger Kevin Andrews agrees with that approach.
He says we are not the first to be attacked and we won’t be the last.
He says it may take weeks, maybe months, to perform a digital audit and even longer if they have to restore the system. It could be difficult even finding out where the hacker penetrated the system.
