It looks as though taxi rates in the capital city will be going up next week.
It’ll be the first set of increases granted for the industry in about a decade. The flag rate will be increasing to $4.50, the distance rate per km is going up to $2.50, and the waiting rate per hour will go up to $40.50.
A notice of motion will be given at today’s city council meeting, indicating that council will officially vote on the changes next week.
Today’s regular meeting gets under way at 3 p.m.
