The Town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove is in election mode as it hopes to fill five vacant council seats.

During the municipal election in September only three people put their names forward: Two people for Mayor and one for councillor.

Denis Hickey won the nod for Mayor, and Brian Roche won his seat on council by acclamation.

Bert Hickey is the outgoing Mayor of the town. He didn’t run for re-election, but the old council must stay in place until the seats are filled.

He speculates that many people didn’t run because there were no major issues in the town that prompt people to want change on council.

Nominations for the election closed on Monday, and there are currently 13 people in the running for the 5 remaining seats on council. Election day is November 30.
