A local fishing company has been charged with violations under Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations.
The charges, against Four Jacks Enterprises Ltd., are in relation to an incident that occurred in November 2019 when a worker suffered what’s described as “serious injuries” to one of his legs while preparing a vessel for the end of the season.
The company is charged with two violations for allegedly failing to ensure that information, instruction, training, supervision and facilities were provided to ensure safety, and for allegedly failing to ensure that the energy source was isolated and effectively controlled where unexpected energization of equipment could cause injury.
The company is scheduled to make its first appearance in Harbour Grace Provincial Court on December 1.
