“The classic winter mess is coming to the province for Remembrance Day”.
That from Environment Canada Meteorologist at the Gander Weather Office, Wanda Batten.
Batten says a bit of everything will come through on Thursday.
She says they’re expecting mainly rain to develop in the overnight/early morning hours over the province’s east coast, at times heavy, with approximately 20-30 mm falling.
There is a slight chance that rainfall amounts could be higher, therefore Batten advises the public to keep an eye on the forecast with regards to rainfall.
They are expecting some snow on the Avalon inland and over higher terrains totaling about 5cm.
Batten says it will be quite cold with temperatures steady around 3 degrees all day. Very strong northeasterly winds of 60-70 km/h will add to that.
She says late in the day, winds will wrap around to a northwesterly gusting up to 80 or 90. A very windy, wet and cold day in store, according to Batten.
She explains that the further you go west, the messier things get with more snowfall but lesser winds.
