The love just keeps coming for Newfoundland and Labrador’s Dawson Mercer.
Off to a great start with the New Jersey Devils in his rookie season, the forward has been voted the team’s fan favourite for the month of October.
The distinction comes with a cheque for $1,000 US, which Mercer promptly donated to the Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter of Make-A-Wish Canada, which “works with communities to provide children with critical illnesses the opportunity to realize their most heartfelt wish.”
Mercer has an even five goals and five assists — including another goal and assist against Boston on Saturday — for an impressive 10 points so far this season.
He also leads all rookies in plus-minus with plus 7.
