A tragic plane crash has claimed the lives of two men in Labrador.
According to the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the crash happened Saturday morning in the area of Flora Lake in Labrador West.
The RNC, as well as Labrador West Ground Search and Rescue, Iron Ore Company security, Labrador Grenfell Health paramedics, and the Labrador City Fire Department’s cold water rescue team responded to the scene.
The two men who were in the plane were pronounced dead at the scene.
The plane, which the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has described as an amateur built Murphy Rebel aircraft, has been removed from the area.
The RNC is providing assistance to Transport Canada and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner as they conduct their investigation.
Meanwhile, residents of Labrador are mourning the loss of the two men following the crash.
There has been an outpouring of condolences on social media, with many people offering their support to the men’s families.
