The federal and provincial governments have announced funding of more than $231,000 to assist in improvements to the Bishop’s Falls Trestle.
Andrew Parsons, Minister of Industry, Energy and Technology announced a contribution of $55,232 for the project, while Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages announced a contribution of $176,358.
Government says the funding allows the Newfoundland T’Railway Council to replace some 280 metres of decking along the Trestle, which will ultimately generate tourism and recreational opportunities.
Parsons says the Bishop’s Falls Trestle is part of an economic generator for many communities in central Newfoundland, adding that the funding further establishes the T’Railway as one of the province’s “prime outdoor attractions.”
