Tenders have been called for rehabilitation of about 100 km of the Newfoundland T’railway between Clarenville and Whitbourne.
Rick Noseworthy of the Newfoundland T’railway Council says they’ve received a total of $589,000 in funding from ACOA, the provincial government, the Trans Canada Trail, Discovery Snowmobile Association and their own funds to improve drainage, grade the trail surface and cut away brush from the sides of the trail.
He says riders shouldn’t encounter any major disruptions while work is carried out over the summer and through to December.
“There might be some slow-downs,” says Noseworthy, “but we’re not shutting down any bridges, there are no major bridges in here to re-deck, and that’s what usually shuts down the T’railway.”
