Memorial University calls the provincial budget a challenging one for them, with a cut of over $13-million in its operating grant from the province.
President Vianne Timmons says the past six years have been difficult ones for them. She says they have cut positions as they continue to review operations. She cites a recent review which shows MUN’s administration costs are less than the national average.
They’ve had budget cuts of over $40-million over the last six years and lost 600 positions at a time when enrolment is up. She was aware of the reductions coming.
