Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in the province yesterday for the royal tour, and while his visit was short it produced a list of questions from the official Opposition during question period in the House of Assembly.
Trudeau and Premier Andrew Furey held a media availability after visiting the MUN Daycare Centre, but their private meeting time was only about a half hour.
Interim PC Leader David Brazil asked if the Prime Minister offered any support to the province, or if Tuesday’s visit was just a photo op.

Finance Minister Siobhan Coady responded by saying that Furey speaks regularly with the PM, noting that during their brief meeting they discussed federal health transfers, the cost of living and more.
Then Brazil’s questions turned to fuel prices, during which he accused Coady of using the federal government as an excuse not to lower the carbon tax.
Coady stated that she hasn’t used the federal government as an excuse, she has just been pointing out the rules under which the government can operate. Coady listed some ways they have been helping people deal with rising costs. Brazil quipped back, saying “your Prime Minister” is the one who brought in the carbon tax, and he is the one who should take it off.
