DF Barnes is calling claims by FFAW-Unifor that the workforce at Vale will be paid 20 per cent less “categorically false.”
According to the company, they are actively hiring up to 175 unionized employees from local 585 at what they say is an “overall comparable compensation package” to what they had previously.
They say DF Barnes has been working at the Vale Long Harbour site with the union for 5 years, and this contract is a combination of that work with maintenance services.
