An RNC officer accused of assaulting her partner has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
33-year-old Noelle Laite stands accused of assault, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and choking the female complainant.
It’s alleged the incidents occurred in Pasadena between September of 2020 and January of this year while Laite was off-duty.
The charges were the first to be laid by the province’s Serious Incident Response Team, or SIRT-NL, whose mandate includes investigating cases involving police officers.
Laite has been with the RNC since 2016 and remains on the job, but has been assigned administrative duties pending the outcome of the case.
The trial is scheduled for late October in Corner Brook.
The Crown is proceeding by summary conviction, which is the less serious route of prosecution as opposed to by indictment.
