The drive for “15 and Fairness” will achieve its objective in about a year-and-a-half from now—a full five years after it will have begun.
A lot of things have changed since the launch of that campaign in 2018, so much so that one of the forces behind it says the planned $15-an-hour minimum wage is almost irrelevant.
Alyse Stuart, a social campaigner, says she would have been ecstatic had the lowest wage been $15 five years ago.
We’re currently seeing record-high prices for many basics including fuel and food.
She says we don’t have to worry about helping multi-national corporations as they will always find a way to make big profits.
As part of the new package, companies with fewer than 20 employees will be given a subsidy.
