Opposition Fisheries critic Craig Pardy wants to see the federal government’s cod recovery plan, 30 years after the cod moratorium was first announced.
Three decades later and cod stocks have yet to recover to the degree to allow for the resumption of a province-wide commercial cod fishery.
Pardy says the province and country are still no further ahead in a plan of action to grow cod stocks. He says it’s fine for the federal minister to acknowledge that seals eat fish, but he’d like to see a plan to address seal predation, and a cod rebuilding and recovery plan.
