Business owners all across the province are feeling the staffing crunch as labour shortages continue, but some are thinking ‘outside the box.”
Vic Lawlor, who owns multiple businesses downtown, says pretty much every business is struggling to get enough staff, with some really struggling to stay afloat. However, one way he has addressed shortages is by offering refugees who have made their way to the province employment. Currently, he has six Ukrainians on staff, with another four coming.
He says they are doing great and are eager to work 50 to 60 hours a week. He says they are nice, helpful people so “Why wouldn’t we help them?”
