Police issued three tickets to parents of youth stopped for operating off-road vehicles.
Twillingate RCMP stopped two dirt bikes driving on the highway between Summerford and Cottlesville travelling at 50 km/h last week. The parents of the 11-year-old and 14-year-old were issued tickets for permitting the youth to operate an off-road vehicle without supervision.
About a half-hour later, the same officer stopped another dirt bike on Main Street in Summerford travelling at 76 km/h. A parent of the young teen was also ticketed.
RCMP are reminding parents that under the Off-Road Vehicles Act, operators under 16 must be supervised by a licenced driver who is at least 18, and must be seen at all times to provide immediate direction to the operator.
