A 27-year-old man is facing a long list of charges after police say he sexually assaulted a woman and then used a front-end loader to try to steal an ATM in Corner Brook.
The RNC received word of an assault in the area of Riverside Drive at around 3 a.m. They say a woman reported being assaulted by a man who was not known to her.
Two-and-a-half hours later, officers responded to reports that a front-end loader was used to break into the Millbrook Mall in an attempt to steal an ATM.
Yesterday the RNC, with help from the RCMP, arrested 27-year-old Joshua Weir.
He is facing a raft of charges in relation to the alleged offences. They include sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft of a motor vehicle, property damage exceeding $5,000, break and enter, being disguised while committing an offence, theft over $5,000, and failure to comply with a release order.
Weir remains in custody and appeared in court today.
