Three foxes up on Signal Hill have been successfully relocated by Parks Canada staff.
Access to the site was restricted for periods on Tuesday as staff attempted to trap the creatures.
Glenn Keough of Parks Canada says the team didn’t have any luck in the morning, but managed to capture three foxes at night. Those animals are being transported to Terra Nova.
Keough explains that the foxes had to be relocated because they were becoming too friendly with humans. Some visitors to the site were feeding them, which can have negative effects. As well, he says increased interactions mean increased chances of someone getting bit by a fox.
Ironically, he explains the friendly relationship between the foxes and humans is what helped staff capture the animals because the foxes were coming up really close to their staff.
