A former teacher sentenced to four years in prison for sex offences against a student will make a pitch for bail today while he appeals the verdicts.
39-year-old Noel Strapp was found guilty of sexual assault and sexual interference against the girl when she was 16 and he was her teacher and sport coach at Roncalli High in Avondale.
Strapp was convicted in February of the offences that occurred between 2014 and 2016.
But he has appealed the verdicts, claiming the trial judge favoured the victim’s evidence over his, to the point that it was “unreasonable, uneven and unfair.”
Court heard that Strapp and the girl had about 100 sexual encounters either at school, Strapp’s home, and in his car.
