Earlier Story
The stage is set for the championship races in the Royal St. John’s Regatta on a pond which some long-time goers say is the best since the day Smith Stockley did the unthinkable and broke the 9:13 record back in 1981.
Hyflodraulic, last year’s winner, also won this year in Placentia and Harbour Grace so they are in line to claim the Triple Crown of Rowing if they live up to their top billing tonight. They rowed 5:08 and hope to flirt with 5 minutes tonight says coxswain Robert Roach.
They’re the number one seed followed by the Cahill Group at 5:30, Roebothan McKay Marshall at 5:23, Smith Stockley at 5:23, and Steers Insurance at 5:33.
