The long-awaited reconstruction of Mount Bernard Avenue in Corner Brook is set to begins this week.
The work will involve upgrading of the water and wastewater infrastructure to supply the new hospital.
Work is set to begin on Monday and will continue through the spring of 2023 and will mean disruptions to residents and visitors to the area.
The work is a cost-shared project between the federal and provincial governments and the city of Corner Brook totalling just over $10 million.
The city has established a dedicated website for updates on construction, and residents can also sign up for email updates.
Construction will take place in two zones this fall, one starting after the other.
- Work Zone 1, Main St – Valley Mall Entrance. During this phase, road access will be maintained for businesses. This phase is expected to last until the beginning of October.
- Work Zone 2, Valley Mall Entrance – Wellington St. During this phase, this section of road will be closed to traffic. Wellington St. Will remain open at Mt. Bernard. School, church and sports facilities will maintain access via Wellington St.
