The town of Gander is welcoming US Ambassador David Cohan to Gander this weekend to mark the 21st anniversary of 9/11.
The town is hosting a food drive at Cobb’s Pond Rotary Park on Saturday, September 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in partnership with Come From Away and Pay it Forward 9/11. Donations received will be passed on to the Gander and Area Food Bank and the Salvation Army.
An Untold Stories Too event is planned for Saturday at 7:00 p.m. The event will provide an opportunity for residents to recount their “untold” memories of the efforts to help the thousands of stranded airline passengers who descended on Gander and the surrounding area when US air space was shut down in the wake of the terrorist attacks.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 11 at Evangel Pentecostal Community Church at 4:00 p.m.
Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.
The events will also be livestreamed.
