The MHA for Ferryland district says some major work needs to be done to repair and improve the breakwater at Trepassey, destroyed by storm surge over the weekend.
Loyola O’Driscoll says heavy seas and surf destroyed the breakwater and the road is buried under 3 or 4 feet of rock and rubble.
He says work was supposed to have been started this week on the breakwater, but the entire scope of the work now needs to change.
He says a major upgrade is needed to prevent future damage like what occurred on the weekend.
