Eleven people had to be evacuated from an apartment building in Mount Pearl during the height of the Earl-related flooding yesterday.

The Canadian Red Cross says water filled the basement of the six-unit building, located on Riverview Avenue. Red Cross volunteers assisted 10 adults and one child with emergency lodging and meals.

Electricity to the structure was cut for safety reasons.

It’s unclear when the building will again be habitable.
