The province’s Privacy Commissioner has sided with the Department of Justice and Public safety regarding the release of records related to a person’s incarceration.
According to Michael Harvey, an access to information request was received by the department by someone looking to access files related to their time in jail.
The department provided the records, but redacted some information, citing three separate sections of legislation.
Harvey has found that the exceptions were properly applied and has recommended that the information continue to be withheld.
