The St. John’s Junior Hockey League kicks off its 43rd year tonight.
Two games are planned, with one taking place at Bay Arena and the other at the Ken Williams Arena.
The defending champions, Mount Pearl will play a few games at Twin Rinks as operations at the Glacier get back up and running after the lengthy strike of municipal workers in the city.
President of the league Jim Hare says the league is as healthy as ever.
He says they had 44 skaters come out for their draft skate, with 31 getting selected for teams, and two or three more getting signed after the fact—the most from one skate. He says it’s shaping up to be a “dandy” year.
