A new energy-efficient project has been announced in the town of Portugal Cove-St. Philips. Cost-shared funding of over $133,000 dollars is being put towards a fuel-switching project in the town.
The funding is being used to replace the oil heating system in the town’s municipal public works depot with electric heat pumps.
It’s the town’s last municipal building to be electrified.
It’s estimated that the project will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35 tonnes annually.
