Memorial University has suspended a member of their Board of Regents for a controversial social media post made several weeks ago.
The tweet was made of March 17 in the wake of the deaths of two Edmonton police officers while on duty.
In a statement, the board says all members are expected to act with integrity, respect, and in a manner befitting the trust and confidence placed on them.
A review of the situation found the board member to be in non-compliance with their code of conduct.
A letter of reprimand and suspension has been issued for the remainder of the board member’s term, which ends on August 31.
