The province’s minister of Women and Gender Equality says she will be meeting with a local lawyer to discuss how they can move forward following Nova Scotia’s mass shooting report.
During Question Period on Monday, PC Helen Conway-Ottenheimer noted that the report describes gender-based violence as an epidemic, and asked Minister Pam Parsons about what funding is available in the budget to address such violence in this province.

Parsons responded by saying her office has set up a meeting with lawyer Erin Breen, who was in Nova Scotia for the release of the report, about what the province should do moving forward.
She says they want to collaborate to make sure they are doing all they can in terms of supports and prevention.
Conway-Ottenheimer believes there are many areas in which the province is lacking, such as early education in the K-12 system.
She says that is important in addressing the behaviours and patterns of behavior that can lead to mass violence.
