Work is well underway in Argentia on the West White Rose concrete gravity structure.
Cenovus says the concrete pour for the conical slip on the CGS began on March 27 and is expected to last about 60 days. The work will take the inner shaft from its previous height of 46.85 meters to 139.2 metres—that’s well over 450 feet.
The pour will use some 8,300 metric tonnes of concrete with another 3,300 tonnes of rebar.
Once the pour is completed, work on the top of the shaft will begin—that work is expected to take about four months.
