A special fundraising concert is being held in a couple of weeks for a member of the Celtic Connection.
Raise the Roof for Barry is being held in support of founding member of the popular band, Barry Kenny.
Bandmate Jennifer Trainor says last month Kenny found out that he requires open heart surgery, which he has to get done out of province.
Trainor says the band was rehearsing for a St. Paddy’s day show when they decided to organize a fundraiser to help out their friend.
The response, she says, was overwhelming.
She says she started reaching out to people on March 20, and within six hours she had a date, venue, and lineup all set. Trainor says her heart is full, and she is humbled by the response.
On the lineup for the evening are The Navigators, The Irish Descendants, The Masterless Men, Black Gold, Bob Taylor and Carl Peters, and The Celtic Connection. VOCM’s own Greg Smith will be hosting.
The concert is taking place on May 6 at the Regional Lifestyle Centre in Bay Bulls. Tickets are $50 each and are available today at noon.
