A special military tribute dinner is taking place tomorrow in honour of St. Bon’s graduates who have served, and in support of the new generation now coming up through the school.
The event will feature Newfoundlander General Rick Hillier as guest speaker.
Gerry Carew, a St. Bon’s graduate and podcaster, says the dinner also serves as a fundraiser for the school’s bursary program, and in particular this year the focus will be put on 11 Ukrainian students at St. Bon’s.
Carew says Hillier will be speaking on a number of topics at the event, including a focus on the first world war.
There is a plaque in the school that pays tribute to St. Bon’s graduates who died in the war. He says Hillier will be speaking about some of the sacrifices of people who fought in the war.)
The event is taking place tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. at the Pleasantville Legion. Tickets can be purchased at that venue, or at the school itself.
