A 58-year-old Mount Pearl man has been arrested for suspected drug-impaired driving after a tractor trailer jackknifed on the Trans Canada Tuesday near the Witless Bay Line overpass.
The incident happened in the westbound lane around 3:00 p.m. forcing diversions in westbound traffic and significant backlogs.
Police say the driver, who was uninjured, performed poorly on a roadside field sobriety test and was arrested for impaired driving.
The driver completed a drug influence evaluation at the detachment and police are awaiting the results of a toxicology test to determine if charges of drug-impaired driving are appropriate. The driver’s license has been suspended.
