Two people linked to the alleged abduction of a teenage girl have been released on bail.
Sixty-three-year-old Erin Bast and 69-year-old Fred Boone, both from central Newfoundland, had been in custody since last Friday.
They were found with the 14-year-old girl at a cabin along the Bay d’Espoir Highway hours after police issued an Amber Alert.
Wilbur Jerome Crockwell, 72, of New Brunswick, accused of child luring and abduction in connection with last week's Amber Alert, is escorted to provincial court in St. John's this afternoon. That followed the arrest of 72-year-old Wilbur Crockwell, a New Brunswick man who’s charged with child abduction and luring, accused of coaching the girl to meet up with him.
It’s believed Crockwell took the ferry to Newfoundland for that purpose but was arrested in Badger before the rendezvous.
He remains in custody pending a bail hearing tomorrow morning.
And while the whole story has yet to come out, Crockwell himself has provided some insight in court, blurting out that it was all his doing, adding the others, Bast and Boone, are innocent.
That remains to be seen, with the pair due back in court July 21 to enter pleas to the charges.
