St. John’s City Council has awarded a contract to the only bidder for the reconstruction of Elizabeth Avenue infrastructure and the development of a shared-use path.
Pyramid Construction Ltd.’s bid of just over $5.7 million to rebuild a section of Elizabeth Avenue between Bonaventure Avenue and Westerland Road, all while developing a shared-use path, was accepted unanimously by City Council during yesterday’s council regular council meeting. Although it was the only bid, council says it was consistent with its estimates on the cost of the project.
Deputy Mayor Sheilagh O’Leary, who lives in the area, says it is much needed.
She says the infrastructure certainly needs to be replaced, but the exciting part is the shared-use path, which is in-line with council’s goal to increase accessibility.
