The Royal St. John’s Regatta is less than a month away with one of the last rowing events, the Time Trials, in the books. Crews were on the pond Saturday rowing for time to determine their placement in the race lineup on Derby Day.
If you remember, big crowds flocked to the pond last year after a couple of years of the Regatta either being scaled back or cancelled outright.
Ashley Peach, Vice-President of the Regatta and captain of the course, says 71 crews have registered so far. That’s roughly on par with last year.
The first race is tentatively scheduled for 8:00, the lunch break is from 12 to 2 p.m. and the supper break just after 4:30 p.m.
Regatta Day is the first Wednesday in August.
