The Opposition health critic is disappointed with what he sees as a lack of detail in the evaluation report released this week on the Towards Recovery mental health report and its recommendations.
Paul Dinn says while the report does address some of the crisis intervention mechanisms in place, it remains lacking in addressing long-term continuity of care for mental health patients “which we know has been lobbied for for a long time” says Dinn.
He referenced Kristi Allan who has persistently rallied outside the Waterford Hospital and Confederation Building seeking better care for patients living with long-term and severe mental health challenges. Dinn says the report only contains one sentence, referencing improvements to access to long-term supports and psychiatry as a “future priority.”
