The provincial government says they are monitoring another blue-green algae bloom in the Salmon Cove area.
Government officials have made several visits to the area, as recently as yesterday, and collected water samples and drone footage from Forest Pond, Salmon Cove Pond and Harrys Pond.

They are currently waiting on the results of those tests. In the meantime, they are in contact with the towns of Salmon Cove and Victoria to coordinate potential monitoring and mitigation efforts.
Government describes the algae bloom as a “natural phenomenon,” noting that the reduction of nutrient inputs into Forest Pond would help mitigate the severity of future blooms.
They expect that pond conditions will return to normal “once temperatures decrease and water flow increases.”
