US-based Liberty Consulting Group—which has provided advice and analysis to the Public Utility’s Board for years—is ending its consultancy role with the PUB.
Liberty Consulting has provided advice to the PUB on a variety of important issues in recent years including things like cutting costs at Nalcor and Hydro, the role of the Holyrood generating plant in supplying needed power to the province and the lengthy process of commissioning the Muskrat Falls project.
In a release issued Wednesday afternoon, the PUB says Liberty Consulting Group has advised the Board of Commissioners of its plans to move away from continued consultancy to the Board.
The PUB says Liberty indicates that it cannot guarantee the long-term resources and continuity required as the Board oversees the transition to a “secure and affordable electric energy future” given current anticipated timelines.
The Board says Liberty will continue to provide “full support” while the PUB finds new consultants.
