John Abbott does not want to see anyone living in the tent encampment in St. John’s by Christmas Eve.

Abbott and End Homelessness St. John’s Executive Director Doug Pawson provided an update yesterday on talks with the organizers of the tent city, located at Colonial Building.

Abbott believes the current situation is solvable.

He says they are putting everything on the table including shelter space, hotel rooms, and other options. “We don’t want anybody sleeping in a tent on Christmas eve,” says Abbott, who notes that they must move quickly over the next couple of days.

When asked if that is a commitment to have everyone out by Christmas eve, Abbott confirms that it is.

“I’m saying that, that’s what I want to achieve,” says Abbott.
