A Newfoundland M-P is backing away from comments he made earlier this week calling for a review of Justin Trudeau’s leadership.
Avalon M-P Ken McDonald was quoted on Radio Canada as saying “Every leader, every party has a best-before date. Our best-before date is here.”
McDonald now says his intention was not to call for a leadership review and he continues to support Trudeau because he has the best interests of Canadians at heart.
It’s not the first time that McDonald has spoken out against his own government. He voted against tax increases on fuel consumption. Ottawa eventually exempted home heating oil from the extra taxation.
The Liberals trail the Conservatives in the polls, and are holding a caucus meeting on Parliament Hill to plan strategy before Parliament resumes sitting on Monday.
VOCM News has calls in to McDonald.
