One man has been taken into custody following a situation in Cowan Heights earlier today that left residents on edge.
Police were first called to Duntara Crescent around 10:00 a.m..
While the exact nature of the incident is unknown, a section of the street was blocked off by police and residents in the surrounding area were asked to shelter in place.
The incident was peacefully resolved just after 4:30 p.m. People in the area can resume normal activities, though there will be an increased police presence for the time being.

The RNC’s presence on Duntara Crescent in Cowan Heights continues.
Police issued an advisory this morning asking people in a portion of Cowan Heights to stay indoors and shelter in place due to the unfolding situation.
Police have established a large perimeter around the area including Frecker Drive between Hamlyn Road and Cowan Avenue and Blackmarsh Road east of Harrington Drive.
Police were called to Duntara Crescent around 10:00 a.m., and asked people to stay away from the area.
A portion of the street is closed to traffic with police and an ambulance on the scene.
