RCMP on the Burin Peninsula are investigating a report in the St. Bernard’s area about an unknown person who approached a boy and tried to lure him into his vehicle Monday evening.
RCMP say the boy was fishing at Big Pond when he was approached by a man whose accent made the boy believe he was not from the area.
The man reportedly offered the boy a popsicle and invited him into his SUV, but the child refused and ran home.
The man is about 50 years of age with a tanned complexion, brown hair and short facial hair. He was reportedly driving a white SUV, possibly a Mitsubishi Outlander, with the letters JE at the end of the licence plate number.
Police are asking the public for possible dash cam footage or surveillance video from the area.
