The current councillor for Ward 3 in St. John’s has officially announced his intention to swap municipal politics for provincial.
Jamie Korab, an Olympic curling gold medallist and real estate agent who has seven years punched on council, is seeking the Liberal nomination in the district of Waterford Valley.
The seat was left vacant with the recent retirement of longtime MHA Tom Osborne.
Korab is the second person to throw his hat into the ring for the yet-to-be-called byelection.
Kevin Guest, who has worked in communications with the federal and provincial governments, announced his plan to seek the PC nomination in the district earlier this week.
Guest is originally from the Goulds and has lived in the district since 2013.
