A 34-year-old man was arrested following an incident at Bowring Park in the capital city yesterday afternoon.
Around 2 p.m. officers saw a man assaulting a woman at the park, and when they approached him, he fled on foot.
The officers caught up with the suspect in the trail system, but he would not cooperate. They eventually had to use pepper spray to subdue the man.
He was arrested and taken to the lockup on charges of assault with a weapon, assault, causing a disturbance, resisting arrest and breaching a probation order.
