Two people were injured after a vehicle left the road in Portugal Cove South near Trepassey and burst into flame Sunday morning.
Police say the vehicle crashed into a ditch around 11 a.m.
The driver was pulled from the burning wreck by witnesses while the passenger was thrown from the vehicle.
The passenger suffered serious injuries as a result.
RCMP say a blood sample was taken from the driver in hospital and police are investigating to determine whether a charge of impaired driving causing bodily harm could be laid.
