The provincial government says progress is being made on the Health Accord, and the positive impact is starting to be seen in people’s lives.
Officials met with the media yesterday to outline the various initiatives that have been put in place as a result of the document, spanning from multiple areas including healthcare, housing, and financial assistance programs.
Of the 56 calls to action, 31 are in the policy development stage, another 24 have actions started, and two still require “further work.”
The closing argument of Dr. Pat Parfry’s presentation noted that tangible results are starting to be seen, and people’s lives are being affected. Health Minister John Hogan backs up that assertion.
He says he understands people are still struggling and they are working on that every day. However, as an example he points to a part of the presentation indicating that the number of joint replacement surgeries is up by 50 per cent from last year.
