RCMP say there is no link between two eerily similar homicide investigations in Conception Bay North.
Yesterday, RCMP announced that three people have been arrested and charged after the remains of a 42-year-old Spaniard’s Bay man were found in a burned-out pickup truck in Bay Roberts last week.
Twenty-eight-year-old Stephanie Noftall, 41-year-old Matthew Kavanagh, and 34-year-old Terry Cole have each been charged with first degree murder for their alleged involvement in the situation.
Each of the accused appeared in Harbour Grace Provincial Court yesterday.
The situation is frighteningly similar to one that unfolded in Harbour Grace last year.
The remains of 34-year-old Adam Mercer were found in a burned-out vehicle in April 2023. Police believe multiple people were involved in the man’s death, but no arrests have been made.
RCMP Corporal Jolene Garland acknowledges that in both cases human remains were found inside burned vehicles, there is no evidence to suggest that the two are connected. She notes that Adam Mercer’s death is still under investigation.
