The summer tourism season is winding down with the closure of a couple of world-class destinations.
Visitor services at the Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve and the Mistaken Point Ecological Reserve – a recognized UNESCO World Heritage Site – will close on Friday October 18th.
They are set to reopen in the spring.
In 2024, Cape St. Mary’s recorded more than 13,500 visitors to see the spectacular gannet nesting site, while Mistaken Point, which contains the fossilized remains of some of the Earth’s earliest known complex life forms, saw more than 2,400 visitors.
Salmonier Nature Park, meanwhile, closes to visitors for the season on Tuesday.
